After graduating from Purdue University in 2015 with his Master's Degree, Luke decided to move to California with no job lying in wait. Originally planning on a career working in a design firm, an opportunity arose to be a field engineer for the construction company Shimmick in Long Beach, CA on the Gerald Desmond Replacement Bridge. Having no experience in the construction industry, Luke had to learn a new set of skills on the job and was immersed in the entire superstructure construction consisting of cast-in-place concrete box cells and steel-framed cable-stay bridge. Luke quickly understood that these skills were invaluable for a design engineer. After spending five and a half years on the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement, Luke decided to continue in the construction of cable-stay bridges and moved to Detroit, MI to work on the Gordie Howe International Bridge in 2021. Here he was able to bring his new construction knowledge and design background to the job to not only put the work plan together but also to design the temporary works needed to construct the job to the work plan including leading and being the engineer of record for the temporary works for the Main Span Closure of the longest cable-stayed cantilever closure in North America to date. In 2024 Luke decided to test the market on his own for temporary works and project execution in construction for a few select clients.
